At present, MnQ engagements are focused on organizations within the Greater Edmonton Area, allowing for the in-person collaboration and embedded observation that the work requires.
MnQ works with a small number of organizations each season. The ones that tend to be a good fit are producing live ensemble or concert experiences, have noticed that their audiences aren't responding the way they should, and are ready to treat audience experience as something that can be designed — not just hoped for.
MnQ does not work with organizations seeking generic promotional strategy, standalone MC scripts without system context, or mass-market audience growth consulting.
The gap is real. Most organizations that find their way to this page already know it.
MnQ's most involved engagement spans the full life of a season and beyond: beginning before the first concert, present through every performance, and continuing after the last. Each concert informs the next. The work can also extend into the infrastructure that shapes how audiences relate to the organization over time — subscription development, audience communication strategy, and the systems that turn one-time attendees into returning ones.
MnQ’s design-focused engagement applies a design layer across anticipation, attunement, and afterglow for a specific concert, project, or season. It shapes key audience touchpoints to support clarity, attention, and coherence throughout a defined experience. This includes how audiences are prepared for the performance, how they are guided through it in real time, and how the experience is framed as it concludes.
MnQ’s diagnostic engagement provides a structured assessment of the current audience experience system across anticipation, attunement, and afterglow. It identifies how audiences currently move through the experience and where clarity, attention, or engagement is being lost. The result is a mapped overview of existing touchpoints alongside prioritized observations to inform future decision-making.
For organizations further along in this work, a different kind of relationship is available.
For organizations already doing thoughtful work on their audience experience, MnQ offers something less structured but no less valuable: a thinking partner for questions that don't have obvious answers, a sounding board when the work gets complicated, and an outside perspective that sits beyond the organization's own assumptions. Not a full engagement — an ongoing conversation with direction.
The result is a clear picture of what's driving the gap between an organization's concerts and its audiences — and a system designed specifically to close it.
MnQ is selective about its partnerships. We work best with organizations that are curious about their audience experience and willing to learn from what they discover. We may decline applications that fall outside our scope, seek predetermined outcomes, or exceed our available capacity. We also recognize that many organizations are already doing thoughtful, effective work. When we believe a group is on a promising path without our involvement, we will say so directly. Good work does not always need intervention, and part of our role is knowing the difference.
